About this book
When a frightened snake bites a gentle old rishi, why does he forgive it?
The villagers come running with sticks, ready to kill the snake. But the rishi raises his hand: "It bit me out of fear, not hate. Let it go." The venom in his foot, he says, a healer can draw out, but the anger in his heart, no one can remove, and it would poison him far longer than any snakebite. So he forgives. And many seasons later, the very same snake comes to rest trustingly in the sun outside his hut.
A gentle, wise teaching parable about the hardest and strongest thing a heart can do, with a Parent Notes page that adds the important balance (forgiving does not mean letting people keep hurting you), talking points, and a glossary.
